BWV Anh. 160
''Jauchzet dem Herrn alle Welt'' is a three-movement pasticcio motet for double SATB choir. It includes music by Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach. The text of the motet is a German paraphrase of Psalm 100. There is some doubt as to who compiled the work: it may have been Bach or Johann Gottlob Harrer, who after Bach's death in 1750 succeeded him as Thomaskantor. ''Jauchzet dem Herrn alle Welt'' appears as , that is in Anhang III, the annex of spurious works, of the 1998 edition of the ''Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis'' (BWV). Philipp Spitta
Julius August Philipp Spitta (27 December 1841 – 13 April 1894) was a German music historian and musicologist best known for his 1873 biography of Johann Sebastian Bach. Life He was born in , near Hoya, and his father, also called Philipp Spitta, was a theologian and wrote the Protestant collection of hymns entitled ''Psalter und Harfe''. As a child, the younger Spitta learnt the piano, pipe organ, and musical composition. He studied theology and classical philology at the University of Göttingen from 1860, graduating in 1864 with a Ph.D. for a dissertation on Tacitus (''Der Satzbau bei Tacitus'', 1866). While at university, he composed, wrote a biography of Robert Schumann, and became friends with Johannes Brahms. In Western classical music, a motet is mainly a vocal musical composition, of highly diverse form and style, from high medieval music to the present. The motet was one of the pre-eminent polyphonic forms of Renaissance music. Georg Christoph Biller
Georg Christoph Biller (20 September 1955 – 27 January 2022) was a German choral conductor. He conducted the Thomanerchor as the sixteenth Thomaskantor since Johann Sebastian Bach from 1992 to 2015. He was also a baritone, an academic teacher, and a composer. Active as Thomaskantor after the German reunification, Biller returned the Thomanerchor to its original focus on church music. He was instrumental in the new buildings for the choir's boarding school, the Forum Thomanum, and in the celebration of its 800th anniversary in 2012. The Thomanerchor (English: St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig) is a boys' choir in Leipzig, Germany. The choir was founded in 1212. The choir comprises about 90 boys from 9 to 18 years of age. The members, called ''Thomaner'', reside in a boarding school, the ''Thomasalumnat'' and attend the St. Thomas School, Leipzig, a Gymnasium school with a linguistic profile and a focus on musical education. Johann Gramann
Johann Gramann or Graumann (5 July 1487 – 29 April 1541), also known by his pen name Johannes Poliander, was a German pastor, theologian, teacher, humanist, reformer, and Lutheran leader. Life Gramann was born in Neustadt an der Aisch, Middle Franconia. He worked as rector of the Thomasschule in Leipzig. Poliander was Johann Eck's secretary at the 1519 Leipzig Debate, where he met Martin Luther and joined the Protestant Reformation. Poliander became pastor of Altstadt Church in 1525 in Königsberg (Kaliningrad), capital of the new Duchy of Prussia (a fief of the Crown of Poland), succeeding the fiery Johannes Amandus. ' (May there be praise and glory and honour), 28/2a and 231, identical to the second movement of BWV Anh. 160, is a motet composed by Johann Sebastian Bach.Bach Digital Works , and It was composed some time in 1725. Text BWV 28/2a is an arrangement of the second movement of Bach's cantata ''Gottlob! nun geht das Jahr zu Ende'', BWV 28, with a different text, however taken from the same Lutheran hymn, that is Johann Gramann's "Nun lob, mein Seel, den Herren" (1530).
